Student Scholarships   

The Department of Modern Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics offers a variety of funding opportunities to students who choose to major or minor in one or more modern languages. Funding is made available in the form of graduate assistantships, tuition waivers, departmental scholarships, and assistantships with World Literature Today

MLLL students can now apply for all department scholarships online. Starting October 1, 2017, MLLL students can apply for departmental and college-level scholarships by filling out an application on the CASH website at  The deadline to complete or make changes to scholarship applications is February 1, 2018.

Requirements for all scholarships:

1. A minimum GPA of 3.5 in the major and a minimum GPA of 3.0 overall.
2. Copy of college transcripts.
3. Application letter describing your academic goals and achievements, in English. One page max please. Where relevant, please address specific eligibility requirements.
4. One letter of recommendation. One page max please. (excluding members of the Scholarship Committee: Professors Luis Cortest (Chair), Takeshi Kimoto, Joe Sullivan, Ping Zhu, Matt McGarry, Robert Lauer (SP), Logan Whalen, and Amel Khalfaoui)
