The Department of Modern Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics (MLLL) offers a major and a minor in Russian. In addition to rigorous training in Russian language, literature, and culture, our students receive personalized attention from highly qualified faculty. Our robust tutoring program helps students refine their language skills outside the classroom, and our very active Russian Club organizes social and cultural events each semester.
Students regularly combine a Russian major or minor with additional degree programs in MLLL or in another department or college on campus, such as the Department of History or the College of International Studies. Most Russian majors study abroad for a semester or a year in St. Petersburg, Russia, or participate in summer language programs in the United States, Russia, or another country where Russian is spoken.
Our alumni are commonly selected for prestigious fellowships, admission to highly competitive graduate programs, and careers in the government and private sector.
