Hossam Barakat is a native of Cairo, Egypt. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Ayn Shams University, Cairo in 1993. He has extensive experience teaching Arabic, having taught the language at the University of Oklahoma since 2005.
Prior to coming to Norman, he taught Arabic at a variety of institutions, including the Middle East Institute and Berlitz in Washington, D.C., the Inlingua International Language Centers in Maryland and Virginia, the Rainbow School in Binghamton, New York, as well as the Dutch Institute in Cairo, Egypt. In addition, he recently taught at Middlebury College’s intensive summer Arabic program in Oakland, California, during the summer of 2010.
