Genevieve Schmitt graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2013 with a dual degree in Linguistics and Arabic with a French minor. Schmitt, originally from Portland, OR, came to Oklahoma to attend Oklahoma Wesleyan University in 2008. After learning about the Arabic Flagship Program at OU, she transferred to the University of Oklahoma in 2009. Through the Flagship Program, Schmitt, completed her capstone year in Alexandria, Egypt, and tested as Superior in Arabic based on ACTFL guidelines. After graduation, she returned to Norman to work as a Program Assistant for the Arabic Flagship Program. In 2014, Schmitt became the Program Coordinator and has recently been promoted to Assistant Director. In addition to her work in Flagship, Schmitt is currently completing her Master’s in Education in the Instructional Leadership and Academic Curriculum - World Languages Program with Teaching Certification in K-12.
