Chase Smithburg graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2013 with a major in Arabic. He completed the Arabic Flagship Capstone Program at the University of Alexandria, Egypt. Chase is a certified Flagship scholar; he tested Superior in Arabic based on ACTFL guidelines. He worked as the Arabic Flagship Program Coordinator, then Assistant Director during the school year 2013/2014. Chase went back to Egypt and taught English as a second language in some private schools in Alexandria, Egypt. in 2015, Chase became the resident director of the Arabic Flagship Overseas Program in Meknes, Morocco. He is responsible for the students’ safety and wellbeing during their capstone year, where participants engage in full linguistic and cultural immersion on their path to reaching the superior level of Arabic proficiency.
